What is the difference between precision turning and ordinary turning?

2025-03-15

The difference between precision turning and ordinary turning lies in the machining allowance and cutting parameters.

Machining allowance: Ordinary turning mainly removes most of the machining allowance on the machined surface, with low requirements for product size and roughness; Precision turning requires meeting all dimensions and technical requirements of the parts, with high demands on surface roughness.

Cutting parameters: Ordinary turning can choose a larger cutting depth and feed rate, while the cutting speed is relatively low; Precision turning requires a smaller cutting depth and feed rate, but the cutting speed can be higher.
